HA Services

HA is highly experienced and capable of performing the following services:

Geotechnical Engineering and Field Exploration

Including sampling and field and laboratory soil testing; foundation analysis for dams, roadways, buildings and  infrastructure; preparation of reports, including rock mechanics,  slope stability and pavement section design.

Construction Materials Field and Laboratory Testing

QA/QC field testing and inspection of common materials including soil/aggregate, concrete/masonry, asphalt concrete and special inspection of welding, structural steel and fireproofing.

HA has specialties in performing QA/QC field testing and inspection of liner materials for landfill construction and other liner installation.

HA has the capability of performing almost all types of soil testing. HA's laboratory also perform testing for aggregates, cement concrete, masonry and asphalt concrete.

Vibration and Settlement Monitoring

HA provide services on monitoring of vibration and settlement at existing structures during vibration or movement caused by construction of other activities in the vicinity of the structures.

The vibration monitoring devices include Minimate Plus Monitors manufactured by Instatel equipped with Raven CDMA Wireless Modem manufactured by Airlink Communications and triaxial geophone suplied by Geocon.  The equipment facilitates remote sensing and

data collection through cell phone modem telemetry and data collection software.  These monitors have four channels with an external transducer to intercept any vibration or waves that pass through the media.  The frequency response of the transducer is 2 to 300 Hertz and for higher frequency, the equipment has geophone to record such events.

The settlement monitoring basically consists of taking elevation readings of reference points of interests periodically during construction or settlement causing operations.  The elevation readings are taken utilizing high precision survey equipment to monitor any minute change or movement.

Gamma-Gamma Logging and Crosshole Sonic Logging

HA is capable of providing services related to Gamma-Gamma Logging and Crosshole Sonic Logging to evaluate structural defects in existing deep foundations.

Gamma-Gamma Logging (GGL) is generally viewed as the most accurate non-destructive test method used to detect anomalies in Cast In Drilled Hole (CIDH) piles, known also as drilled shafts.  Substantial drops in average bulk density readings from Gamma-Gamma tests are indicative of the presence of anomalies in the material surrounding the inspection tube.  An anomaly is an unexplained change in the detected density homogeneity of the CIDH pile at a given depth, typically signaling contaminated concrete or a reduction in cross-sectional area.  The anomaly is considered to be a defect when the intended performance of the pile is compromised by the anomaly.  Structural, geotechnical, and corrosion concerns may all contribute to identifying an anomaly as a defect.

Crosshole Sonic Logging (CSL) is performed to further define the nature and extent of detected anomalies.  Like GGL, CSL is a downhole NDE method that is utilized to determine the homogeneity of the concrete within CIDH piles.  Instead of using a radioactive source to determine density in a tube, CSL is performed with high-frequency sonic pulses from a pair of probes located in two adjacent tubes. One tube contains a sonic emitter while the second inspection tube contains a receiver.  By evaluating the time the sonic signal takes to traverse the distance between probes, the uniformity of the sonic properties of the intervening material can be determined.

Environmental Assessment

Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessment (ESA) associated with commercial real estate transactions and underground storage tank facilities.

Solid Waste Engineering

Design and construction administration of pollution control systems including solid waste disposal facilities and liner systems for wastes and liquid impoundments.

Civil Design Services

Site grading and drainage planning to comply with county and municipal requirements for land development including hydrologic analysis and preparation of site plans and drainage reports.
